Trade for your property in the hot places.

I am from the coast of Maine and headed to retirement at the end of this year. I am a professor at a state University in Minnesota- I started an online teacher licensure program for them 15 years ago and will continue to teach for them for two years following my “official” retirement.

I have to rent my cottage in July and August to pay the bills but I am interested in trading for June, September, October, Thanksgiving, Christmas…you plan the adventure!June and September are spectacular and the tourists are gone!!

Chateau Mer sleeps 23.  Click here to view: http://www.homeaway.com/vacation-rental/p112188 ( I rent my cottage through VRBO).  You will also see my art on this website. I am a social practice sculptor who is interested in issues like gluten intolerance, recovery and water quality.  I will be working on a project called “US Route Found in Our Water – Mile Marker 0 – 2,369” next year chronicling the conditions and public perceptions from Key West to Fort Kent, Maine.

Are you interested in a trade for my property?  You can bring the whole family/group together for a reunion.

My property is located in Sandy Point, Maine, a town of 50 people, at the mouth of Penobscot Bay. You will have your own private cove on a mile long sandy beach with screen house. It is 30 miles from both Bar Harbor (Acadia National Park), and Camden (home of the tall ships schooner fleet). It is very unique property built by an artist/professor and engineer; including a Brazilian granite counter in the kitchen, a nine piece light sculpture in the great room, a handmade tile grotto bathroom and fireplace in great room and Mexican suite full of objects d’art found on travels throughout Latin America. There are two decks and the entire water side of the house has ocean views.

Hiking, biking, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, kayaking, sailing, schooner rides, fishing, lobster boat rides, whale watching, swimming, horseback riding, sleigh rides, golf, tennis, lighthouse tours, kite flying, historic tours and homes, galleries, antiques, 103 acre oceanfront state park surrounding property, Sandy Point Public Beach, private beach access, blueberry picking, lobster bakes, seasonal festivals, Fort Knox State Park within 5 miles driving distance, local restaurants with various ambiance located nearby, centrally located for day trips to: Camden, Belfast, Bangor, Ellsworth, Bar Harbor, and Acadia National Park.

Invitation to join the discussion!

I am partnering with the Mill City Museum on a social practice art event designed to engage viewers in a dialogue about wheat: its past, present and future role in the American diet, as well as in shaping the political, economic and social development of our city, state and country.

The 7 foot tall Ode To Gluten has been shown at the Northeast Art-A-Whirl exhibition, was a featured story in the Northeaster and Bridges was interviewed by Dale Connelly of MPR fame.  Review the details at http://bridgescreate.com and read the attached press release and other associated documents.

Dr. Bridges will be on hand from 1:00 p.m. to 4;00 p.m. to help visitors create three-dimensional art pieces from their own “power objects” and imagination.  Participants are encouraged to bring a small object (max. 3” X 3”) that has meaning to them as the beginning and inspiration for their creation. Art materials and other surprising supplies will be available for building their own piece and to spark conversation, as all Dr. Bridges’ work is intended to do.  Visitors can also see how history is revealed in food through a baking demonstration, “White vs. Whole Wheat,” by a museum interpreter.

Needed:

1. Design Papers, Markers, Cement, screws, nails, ceramic tiles, artifacts, metal, plastic objects, glue guns, woods.  Many of the supplies for the “Power Object” lesson which tells a personal story are collected at Savers on Tuesdays ( I am over 55).  Contributions of $50 would be greatly appreciated.

2. Workshop leader stipend for the one day workshop. $500.

I have taught art for 20 years, trained teachers for 20 years and I can guarantee a top quality project.  I am moving into an early retirement so I can return to my educational passion-employing art to effect social betterment. Please see my attached  short resume or longer CV for additional information on my qualifications and experience.  I have also included lesson plans and other related documents for your review.

Please contact me with any questions.  I would be happy to visit you and discuss your interest in participating.

Sincerely,
