Never Before Seen Art

I spend time up in Barra de Potosi and would encourage anyone who is looking for an opportunity to share their good fortune to gather up all their beads, ribbon and fabrics to share with Chely who is the lead person in the Barra Women’s Doll Collective.

They are making custom dolls now. See Sally Gibson, and a doll who looks like ME named Barbaraina – including my signature necklace down the back! 950 pesos for a custom doll. What a value.  Their regular dolls are amazing and this year they have some perros. Contact Lori O’Neil at and send two pictures to give Chely a model to go by.   Chelly and Lori will be near the Sailfest Silent Action table on Feb 7 near Café Arcadia.  Go on over and meet them.

I rarely buy two dimensional art work these days but I have been admiring the talent of Dolores Vazquez  for  several years now and I bought a powerful la sirena to hang in my apartment here in Quinta Camelinas, right next to a gift from my god daughter, Kenya.  El Tortuga!  Kenya is taking differential equations this semester. If I had to die or pass DE, I am afraid I would not be long for this earth.  Find DOLY down on the Malecon near Café Arcadia.

I met Joanne Purchase at the Chick Party -happens in January-benefits local artisans.  Spectacular venue!  Joanee’s magnificent neckpieces really caught my attention and I was excited to learn that she has an end of season sale with 50% off and buy one and get one free incentives.  Get on over to Ixtapa on Tuesday Feb 19 -12-5 AND Feb 20 same times. 235 Paseo de las Golondrinas in Ixtapa.
