Shirley Leckie Reed is professor emerita, Department of History, University of Central Florida, Orlando, Fl. During her career at UCF she taught Women in American History, and related courses, such as regional women’s history, gender roles, feminism, among other courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. She has published largely in American Women’s History in the Trans-Mississippi West and most recently she has focused on women intellectuals and the mythologizing and later the revisioning of the American West. She moved to the Twin Cities to join her daughter after the death of her husband in November, 2014.
