Grammy LeBlanc’s Maine Chowda

*Steam 4 lobsters and 5b lbs of clams. Shuck and clean and save everything-including tomalley.  SAVE BROTH. Put aside.

*Mince 1 cup of salt pork or bacon and fry to golden brown.
*Add 2 cups of diced onions and fry to golden brown.

*Add BROTH and add 4 cups of chopped , peeled potatoes. Simmer for two hours.
* IMMEDIATELY before serving: Add clams and lobster, 1 lb of haddock, 1 lb of scallops and 1 lb of shrimp.

*Heat to boiling and finally add 1 quart of half and half (or canned milk for  authentic Maine old school style).
Serves 12 Maybe

Serve with oyster crackers.
